Witchy Weather Report: Tuesday’s Witch

giphy

Monday’s Witch is tranquil and white
Tuesday’s Witch wields fire and might
Wednesday’s Witch is wacky but wise
Thursday’s Witch keeps their eye on the prize
Friday’s Witch mixes coconut and lime
Saturday’s Witch can bend space and time
but the Witch who works on Sunna’s day will always bring bright blessings their way

Everyday, as you’re getting ready to leave for work or hit the town with your friends or look for that perfect new job, you take stock of the general vibe of the day so you know how to approach it. You stick your head out the window to check the weather, notice how quick the second hand on your clock is moving, and try to read the dispositions of those you meet on the street. Every day has it’s own energy and when you walk out the door in the morning (or the afternoon, no judgements!) as a good little witch, it’s best to have your magickal arsenal backing you up!

The word “correspondences” doesn’t sound hella interesting or witchy, so don’t think of this as a post about magickal daily correspondences, think of this as your witchy weather report for the days of the week! Much like a daily horoscope (like the ones from Broadly, which I LOVE and check religiously), these daily bits of astrological magick will tell you the kind of spells to focus on, colours to wear and use, witchy tools to wield, or just in general how to be the best witch you can be that day. When you combine this daily witchery with things like moon phases, current astrolgoical phases, and the season you’re in with your own witchy intuition you have a fully fledged magical almanac.

One of my favourite things about daily magick is that it helps break up ruts and monotonous magical slumps. It gets you thinking magickally every day and gives you small things to focus on. Over time this builds into a great daily practice. You don’t have to be an expert, you don’t have to write your own horoscope or even be fully versed in astrology. I’m not! Every day and once a month I read a hororscope from Broadly, I get weekly and monthly astrology reports from Georgia Nicols in my inbox, and I love the Hoodwitch’s weekly witch tips. When we move into astrological seasons I trust other astrologers to give me the highlights, and the same with the astrological signs of the moon. I use that info from those brilliant people, with my own witchy knowledge of daily magick to give myself daily witchy forecasts so I have a head start on the day. I use a magickal day planner to keep it all in and make it look pretty and colourful so I can start the day off right. (OK SO YEAH I’M AN OFFICE SUPPLY NERD, OK??)
This week I’ll be posting about the energy of the day every morning so you can start your day off right and maybe do a little magick.

Tuesday

  • Planet: Mars
  • Planetary Symbol: ♂ Mars’s shield and spear
  • Element: Fire
  • Colours: Red, Black, Grey, Orange
  • Stones & Metals: Iron; Garnet, Obsidian, Bloodstone, Tiger’s Eye, Jasper, Smokey Quartz
  • Incenses, Herbs & Oils: Ginger, Pine, Allspice; Holly, Snapdragon, Thistle
  • Tarot Cards: Five of Wands, Six of Wands, Strength

Tuesday gets its name from the Norse god Tyr or Tiw, and is a day of confidence, strength and justice. It’s associated with fire and is a day for magic dealing with protection, self-confidence and courage, passion and creativity.

Tuesdays are a day for strong, spicy incense and herbs. Burning them in an iron cauldron or bowl is a good way of incorporating this strong, fiery metal into your magical work. Thistles are a wildflower that is common throughout North America. It’s said that if you have wild thistles growing in your garden it protects your home from burglary and negativity. Holly protects the home, and people from stray magic. Adding it to the spells for protection or for rebounding back negativity or curses will protect you from the negative influences of others. Snapdragon has a similar energy and purpose, and easy to grow for those in small spaces.

Smokey Quartz is one of the strongest, toughest, no-nonsense confidence stones out there. Wear or carry it as a magical suit of armour or even a metaphysical weapon. Garnet is an amazing and loving self-esteem stone; it helps to strengthen the will to live and to care for yourself. Ruby is a beautiful stone of wealth, passion and love, and is a great addition to spells for love or confidence on a date.

Types of Tuesday Magick: Fire scrying and candle magick; spells for confidence, protection, and banishing; creative magick such as creating witch jars, poppets and mojo bags; no matter the topic, it’s a good day to start new projects and spells.

from The Slutist Tarot

Tarot: The suit of wands is associated with fire, and indeed the entire suit is aligned with Tuesday’s energy, but two wands in particular capture today’s energy the best – the Five and Six. The Five of Wands at first glance appears to be nothing but conflict, but when you look closely it shows people jumping in and facing their problems head on. They have a reason to fight and are motivated by the chance to fight for their beliefs and the excitement of passion. Use this card as a significator when you’ve got a fight coming and you’re ready to tackle it. The six is the card of victory after five’s challenge, and it serves as a great meditation tool. The strength card is similar to the Five of Wands, but it frequently depicts a woman taming a lion, and serves as confident significator for all of the feminist witches out there.

Dress for magickal success: Incorporate the colours, smells and stones of Tuesday and dress to be bold. Bold and eye-catching patterns, large jewellery, lots of glitz, and wear an outfit that makes you feel confident and strong. I once had someone describe a big chunk of smokey quartz hanging from her neck as “metaphysical brass knuckles” and I often wear a similarly large piece when I need a bit of backup. You’ll notice that many mars-esque stones and crystals are popular in jewelery and today’s a good day to deck yourself out in crystals and magick. Grab your spelled perfume or your flashiest watch or cuff links or something and just walk in like you own the place.

I’ve mentioned before that I love Laurie Cabot’s daily magickal advice on twitter, and I still check it every morning! I love today’s advice:

Seems like a good day for magick to me!

Come back every day this week for the witchy weather forecast for the day of the week, and combine that with your seasonal changes and moon phases!
